Strong's 3588: The, the definite article. They are, therefore, not really distinct rewards, but rather different phases and views of one great whole, which shall be enjoyed in its entirety by those who have struggled victoriously with the trials and temptations of the world. And as the sins to be avoided are to be avoided by all, so the separate rewards arc promised to all who overcome. As it behoves the individual Christian to avoid and repent of all sin, and yet to fix his attention on the cure of some besetting sin to which he is peculiarly liable, so these messages, though intended to be read by all, and heeded by all, place vividly before each Church its besetting sin, which more particularly requires attention. Each Church had an especial failing brought more emphatically before it but still the seven warnings are one whole, for the edification of all. The seven messages were not merely separate admonitions addressed only to each particular Church, but all the epistles were meant for all the seven Churches, and, after them, for the universal Church. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the Churches. He who is having an ear - let him hear what the Spirit saith to the assemblies.' He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies.” Let all who have ears give heed to what the Spirit is saying to the Churches.'" SEDARIS: Well, I think what changed was - you know, there's a real person, and then there's a character of that person. Did how you wrote about him change after his death and even before that, when he was too out of it to read what you'd written? GROSS: David, you've written about your father for years. He never answered questions about his youth, saying only, what do you want to know that for? But getting to the root of my father was virtually impossible. Something must have happened that made him that mean. Well, I feel sorry for him, Hugh has taken to saying. The money was a comfort, but better yet was the roar of live audiences as they laughed at how petty and arrogant he was. Then I started to write about it, to actually profit from it. (Reading) As long as my father had power, he used it to hurt me. For years, I'd felt like one of those pollarded plane trees I'll forever associate with Paris, the sort that's been brutally pruned since saplinghood and in winter resembles a towering fist. Or at least it is if your relationship with that parent is troubled. It's disfiguring to be a child for that long. The woman across the road from us in Normandy was 80 when her mother died - 80. Now, though, with people living longer and longer, you can be a grandparent and still be somebody's son or daughter. SEDARIS: (Reading) It used to be that people's parents died in their 60s and 70s, cleanly of good old-fashioned cancers and heart attacks, meaning the child was on his or her own by the age of 45 or so. So I want to start with an excerpt of one of them toward the end of the book. Several of the essays are about your father in his later years and about his death. GROSS: You have some beautiful and very conflicted writing about him in your book. So I want to talk with you about your father who died not long ago. But that said, I feel more comfortable with - you know, with a prop, if there's something I can kind of hide behind. So it's been, like, 30 years, so I feel super comfortable in front of her. But I really - I've known Anne for - I don't know. SEDARIS: Oh, gosh, I just can't think of anything worse. But anyways, for anybody who knows you, that's not, like - or reads you - that's not, like, a David Sedaris real pose. SEDARIS: But nobody smokes tobacco out of it. SEDARIS: It's just for pot now, you know. Like, what happened to the pipe (laughter)? SEDARIS: And I think some places are - you know, have a problem with it because they say, he's smoking, but it's just a fake - you know, if you look at it, it's so clearly a fake pipe, but it's just a really fun prop, a pipe. GROSS: (Laughter) Yes, that's right - or like a Hugh Hefner photo. It's like a Playboy magazine author photo. And she'd been taking photographs of authors smoking pipes - you know, fake pipes. And so she arranged to get into the LA County Library Children's Department before they opened. And so I needed an author photo, so I asked Anne if she would do it. SEDARIS: Hugh has an old friend who he went to college with, a photographer named Anne Fishbein. There's something so, like, 1950s movie about it. So you're standing in front of, like, a library of bookshelves wearing an elegant suit, holding a pipe in your hands, looking off to the side. GROSS: So I have to start with your author photo before we get into the heavy stuff. So great to talk to you again.ĭAVID SEDARIS: Oh, thank you so much, Terry. TERRY GROSS: David Sedaris, welcome back to FRESH AIR. Terry Gross spoke with David Sedaris last year. The new book is called "Happy-Go-Lucky" and is now out in paperback. In Sedaris' new book, he writes about when his father was in his 90s and his power was continually diminishing in assisted living and in the ICU. He says, quote, "as long as my father had power, he used it to hurt me," unquote. Those essays are about his father, with whom Sedaris had a lifelong combative relationship. Yet several of the essays in his latest book take a pretty serious turn. He's had bestselling collections of his personal essays, and he's received The Thurber Prize for American Humor, the Jonathan Swift prize for satire and humor and the Terry Southern Prize for humor. David Sedaris is a famous humorist who got his start by reading his personal essays on the public radio show This American Life. I won't argue with most of your points as you are quite correct. You can force a bar numebr to display or not, prevent a measure from being included in the count at all, or dd an offset to the current measure number. Not sure what you mean about resetting bar numbers, but the controls for this would be found by right clicking a measure and choosing Measure Properties. Feel free to explain more of what you are trying to accomplish and we can make suggestions. If you are just trying to get the szies and relative positions more to your liking, I think you will be better served experimenting with the text style settings and also the system distance settings. Which si to say, the behavior might change in the future to better suit the cases it is intended but accidentally break whatever it is you are trying to do. Also, I'm not sure what you are trying to do by increwasing the line distance, but I wouldn't recommend this - it's meant for some very particular uses and this cases doesn't seem to fit. Or, if you've already enttered chords, right click one rest, Select / All Similar Elements, then press "V" to avoid making the chord invisible as well. Also, you can make the rests invisible by just pressing Ctrl+A to select all followed by "V". For one thing, you can use Edit / Tools / Add/Remove Line BReaks to add the breaks in one step. It's probably not an unsolvable problem, but it's more complicated than you might think to really make it work well.īTW, your steps to producing these types of chord charts can be a bit. There was once but it led to many layout problems where too many notes would be crammed into a measure to fit leading notes to spill over the barline etc. There is not currently a setting to make barlines line up automatically. Once you do that, the next time start MuseScore, your template will show in the list of available templates each time you start a new score. Saving as a template is just a matter of saving a score normally to your Templates folder. Oh, and the addition of creating custom Templates to the Handbook. Is there, already, a way of getting measures to be nearly the same width? If not, that's my feature request. Odd and Even, Top and Bottom page margins to 10mm or less (Have not found way to reset bar numbers at the beginning of Chorus) This is a rough and ready guide to making chord charts:Īt each fourth bar, insert a 'New Line' break.Ĭontrol-click on each bar number to select them all I have also attached a MuseScore chord chart, but I have not been able to find out how to save it as a custom Template. I have attached three chart examples: a BIAB bmp, MuseScore mscz and iReal Pro jpg. MuseCore takes considerable messing with style templates and invisible settings and I cannot get the bar lines to line up, vertically. BIAB produces usable charts, but measures are erratic and getting large chord symbols efficiently laid out it difficult. IReal Pro produces the best chart layout. I was surprised to find that MuseScores very flexibility could be used for presentable chord charts. Recently, I discovered the ability (experimental) to import Band In A Box files. I looked at MuseScore years ago and was very impressed, but I could not misuse it for my simple purpose. Tablets are much better than massive binders for gig use. Both can import chord chart pdfs and jpgs. Only iRealPro can be used to edit new charts, but Fakebook is best for gigs. Recently, I have discovered charts on Android tablets and use iReal Pro and Fakebook Pro. I work them out in Band In A Box and print as. I play in several jazz bands and need to produce chord charts for the rhythm guys. I can work out the chords to a tune using a keyboard and a pair of ears. I get the score 'furniture' and conventions completely wrong. not another query about chord charts.Īdmission: I can only read scores with difficulty and play entirely by ear. New islands of interest unleash for Riley and her existent islands of friendship flourish. Towards the end, we see both Joy and Sadness taking pace and being at peace with each other. Her 5 major emotions, which were also the other characters, Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear governed how she coped with the new environment of San Fransico. The first part, set in the mind of Riley, a young girl, depicted how her life and emotions functioned. Well, we can only guess about the plot of Inside out 2 so far. The ending of part 1 and the possible plot of part 2 This appears to be a new change unlike the continuous releases of sequels by the studio. Pixar Studios currently seems to be highly engaged in fresh projects like Onward, Soul and more unrevealed ventures. Though sources say that a sequel was being planned since the release of the movie, there are no traces of the release date or trailer to be seen as of now. (IMAGE: Wallpaper Flare) Inside Out Part 2 Release Date and Trailer Fun fact: Inside out was the 7th highest-grossing film in the year 2015! Do we need to give or you need to get any more proofs? Of course not! Inside out: Riley with her parents The fact that Inside Out part 1 bagged the prestigious Oscar award in the category of Best Writing and Original Screenplay, proves that it is a movie of substance. Therefore, the expectations for Inside Out 2 are fairly justified. Just as the movie came out, it was fantastically received by critics and the audience. The movie proved to be highly impactful for individuals belonging to all age groups. And why won’t it! Its innovative concept paired with the importance of emotions remains unmatched. Almost 5 years after its release on 18th May 2015, this movie still remains to rule hearts. Needless to give any introduction, Inside Out was a phenomenal movie brought to us by Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. It pulls children and grown adults alike to the edge of their seats (most likely shedding a few tears too), rooting for these anthropomorphic emotions to make one fictional little girl happy.Wondering about Inside out 2 release date, plot, cast, etc.? Don’t worry, we’ve got it all covered for you! Cause for the high demand of a sequel It's also not concerned with making the solutions easy. The result is that every scene is propulsive and consuming, making the experience fly by. It's a movie that cares about all of its characters, and ensures the audience does as well. Inside Out is not just Riley's, or Joy's, or Sadness' movie. He plays one character that the less said before experiencing Inside Out, the better though. Richard Kind reminds everyone of his skill as a voice actor as well. The rage is not off-putting, but comes from a place of concern that makes his hot-headed attitude endearing. His stand up routine has positioned him as America's angriest man, but it's an anger that comes with both a sense of humor and genuine care. Lewis Black as Anger is the most perfect casting choice of the film though. Their animated body language is spot on as well, often showing more about their thoughts and intentions than could be said. Yet as the film goes on and they push themselves beyond the comfortable roles that they begin in, both capably adapt without breaking character. Poehler and Smith are brilliantly cast, truly embodying the characteristics they are meant to. Their journey together involves growth on both sides and a potent series of role reversals. Joy (Amy Poehler) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) are the emotional core of the film (pun really not intended). Those little feelings are well written, but the voice actors, along with the incredible team of Pixar animators, really bring them to life. It's the sort of place you would be happy to get lost within, if you were not so concerned with what was happening on screen. The wonders to behold are seemingly endless, and display a great deal of imagination (sometimes quite literally). While the basics of the story are set up there, the characters continue to explore this fascinating world throughout the entire length of the film. Again, this is only the first 10 minutes of the movie. It is a showcase in storytelling economy and function. Everything important is introduced naturally along the way. The audience is taken on a journey, one just as notable as the breathtaking opening sequence of Up, from her birth to the move. Rather than explain the purpose and identity of these emotions, and their place within the larger expanse of Riley's head, he shows the audience all of this as Riley grows up. Far more importantly, he does so without bogging down the story in exposition. It is a fantastical set up requiring a lot of world building, and Docter effortlessly constructs Riley's mindscape in the first 10 minutes of the film. Aghion’s goal was to provide women with clothing that was easily accessible and modern, yet of a much higher quality than typical French ready-to-wear fashion. Gaby Aghion founded the label Chloé shortly after she arrived in Paris in 1952. The brand was featured regularly in Mademoiselle magazine, which was known for featuring the latest French-designed ready-to-wear. Fashion journalists praised the Mademoiselle Arlette designs for offering the yé-yé look to an American audience. There, they were adapted and marketed by the Seventh Avenue businessman Andrew Arkin, and sold under the name Mademoiselle Arlette. Several designs from Réal, including styles worn by Vartan, were also produced in the United States. Réal’s importance was such that its fashions were featured in the pages of Elle alongside couture creations by venerable labels such as Cardin, Courrèges, Dior, and Lanvin. Thanks to its association with French pop singers, Réal also became known as the quintessential yé-yé boutique. Nastat was a mere nineteen years old when Réal opened, and the boutique soon boasted an impressive celebrity clientele that included Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Denueve, and Sylvie Vartan. Réal opened on Paris’s rue Saint Honoré in 1957, and, much like Mary Quant’s London shop Bazaar, the styles were designed for young women who had difficulty finding clothing that appealed to their tastes. Mademoiselle Arlette clothing was designed by Arlette Nastat, co-owner of and designer for Réal, a high-end Paris boutique. Yet Ungaro also understood the increasing importance of ready-to-wear: in 1967, he launched a readymade line called “Emanuel Ungaro Parallèle.” The label’s offerings allowed Ungaro to design in a relaxed and lighthearted matter. The garment’s immaculate construction – best exemplified by the perfectly-matched fabric – demonstrates that there remained a place for couture craftsmanship within 1960s fashion. The soft lines of the fabric Knapp designed for this coat echo its curved lapels and rounded patch pockets, while simultaneously contrasting the coat’s hard-edged, A-line silhouette. She quickly rose to the challenge, and her colorful, fluid designs – which often conveyed her interest in Abstract Expressionism – were said to “wake Ungaro up.” Although Knapp was an established textile designer, she had never made couture fabrics prior to working with Ungaro. Some of Ungaro’s most compelling creations were made in collaboration with textile designer Sonia Knapp. The newspaper emphatically stated that although Ungaro was designing couture, he was certain to “defy labels,” and speculated that he would be “the force to cement the weaker forces tearing Paris apart.” Women’s Wear Daily was first to report on the new couture house, later providing the designer’s contact information to French and British journalists. This early example of branding speaks to the importance of a consumer’s ability to “buy in” to a luxury brand at relatively little cost – a concept that would become more fully developed during the next decade and beyond.Įmanuel Ungaro worked for Cristóbal Balenciaga and André Courrèges before starting his own label in 1965. The pride that Dior took in its new venture is best evidenced by a shirtdress dating to 1967, also featured in Elle, made from red and blue silk emblazoned with the words “Miss Dior” in an allover pattern. The House of Dior had purchased a factory in which the garments were made, ensuring that they were of better quality than many other ready-to-wear offerings being manufactured in France. These designs were well-priced, resolutely practical, and casual: not a single formal evening dress was to be found. Philippe Guibourgé designed the Miss Dior clothing, which initially comprised sixty-eight styles of dresses, coats, and suits, in addition to a full range of separates and accessories. The store’s opening was hinted at in Women’s Wear Daily two years earlier, when Thelma Sweetinburgh reported, “There are plans ahead for the House of Dior to dress ‘Les Jeunes Filles’ in a special ground floor boutique.” In order to reach a wider audience, in 1967 the company opened a new, lower-priced boutique called Miss Dior. The House of Dior launched a successful boutique line 1947, and although its offerings were much more accessible than couture, they were by no means inexpensive.
